DNS Server & DNS Resolver
DNS Resolver
Every time you enter a website address in the browser’s bar, a request is sent to a designated DNS server.
The DNS returns the address of the domain you need.
If the DNS is configured to deny the access to that piece of data, the site you want is not accessible.
Why a local DNS Resolver is a good idea?
By installing your own resolver on the local machine (laptop, desktop, mobile phone), your device will use this resolver directly, making obsolete the ISP's DNS.
Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has its own DNS but this is invariably biased and most of the time even hard-coded in the router they provide.
This way your searches will be much faster and more accurate.
